Good News – Makiki Library Open for Business!

News coverage of our last post generated a lot of news coverage as well as increased willingness by everyone involved and affected to go the extra mile to get things back on track. According to Parks staff, the lights and electricity are fixed!

We thank everyone who worked together, found that parts were available, and have allowed Makiki Community Library to reopen well before our January 4 date.

The power of the media and a cooperative spirit! 

Come visit us at 1527 Keeaumoku St. during our normal hours:

  • Wednesdays — 2 pm to 6 pm
  • Saturdays — noon to 4 pm
  • Sundays — noon to 4 pm

You’re Invited to Our Open House on Saturday

Makiki Community Library is sponsoring an Open House for our friends, neighbors, members, and patrons tomorrow, Saturday, June 25, from 4-7 pm. Please join us for some light refreshments and to learn more about our programs and services, including:

  • The Books!
  • Children’s Programs
  • Adult Programs
  • Computer Center
  • Movie Nights

We will have our board members, staff, and volunteers on hand to share our passion for advocating literacy, learning, and civic engagement, in a safe environment for the community.

No RSVP is required! Please feel free to stop by at 1527 Keeaumoku Street in Makiki District Park. Don’t forget you can also check us out on Facebook.

The next meeting is scheduled on June 16, 2011.
